Hello 2015!

A new year with new challenges and goals. It going to be a big one and I’m looking forward to it. The year is shaping up well already and I’m excited!! With family and friends, birthday celebrations and more focus on writing, a week of the Sydney Writers’ Festival, Byron Bay Writers Festival for my Book Club 10 year anniversary, a 55km walk for the Fred Hollows Foundation (Sydney Coastrek), holidays to visit friends in Boston and a cruise to the Melbourne Cup – 2015 is going to be fun! And busy!

My first book is on submission – hopefully somebody sees something in it worth developing (fingers crossed). It has taken up a whole chunk of my writing time in the last few years and this baby needs to be picked up or put to bed. Illuminations: Book 1 and 2 are written and I will continue to write Book 3 in my spare time over the coming months – but I am excited about new writing projects that have been in the waiting for a while now and its time for them. These writing projects have had snatches of time and focus over the last couple of years and I can’t wait to work on them.

I’m also excited for another year of the Australian Women Writers Challenge!

What is the Australian Women Writers Challenge?

The 2015 Australian Women Writers Challenge was set up to help overcome gender bias in the reviewing of books by Australian women. The challenge encourages avid readers and book bloggers, male and female, Australian and non-Australian, to read and review books by Australian women throughout the year. You don’t have to be a writer to sign up. You can choose to read and review, or read only.

The challenge will run from Jan 1 – Dec 31, 2015. You can sign up at any time.

If you have a blog: Download the 2015 AWW badge, create a sign-up post or page for your blog and enter your details on our sign-up page (see AWW website).

If you’re a reader and you don’t have a blog: nominate the number of books you plan to read throughout the year and enter your details on our sign-up page. (You may choose to join Goodreads or The Reading Room where you can keep track of your reading and post reviews.)

Choose your level:

Stella: Read 4 – if reviewing, review at least 3

Miles: read 6 – if reviewing, review at least 4

Franklin: read 10 – if reviewing, review at least 6

Create you own challenge: nominate your own goal.

All of the details about the 2015 AWW challenge can be found HERE.

  1. Wow, it sounds like you have a very busy year a head! Good luck with your submission, hopefully you’ll get picked up soon.

I’m rejoining the AWW challenge this year, I need to get around to that soon actually. I love the challenge. Reading 15 books by Australian women is awesome, good on you :)

    1. Thanks Rochelle, Good luck with your writing too – I’ve been enjoying your stories! Your reviews are great – glad your doing the AWW challenge as well. (By the way you can already book Literary Speed Dating for 2015 at the ASA) Lisa :-)
